Snake Plant Botanically known as Sansveria trifasciata from Asparagaceae family. Common name are Sansevieria Green, Mother In Laws Tongue, Snake Plant, Sanseveria, Bowstring Hemp, devil's tongue, jinn's tongue and snake tongue etc. It is an evergreen perennial indoor/outdoor attractive succulent plant.  Plant is a popular houseplant with longer green leaves.

Snake Plant is one of the most recommended plants for improving air quality in the home. This variety is commonly found in Sanseveria variety. Used to be very popular in the 1960's. Has become very popular as an indoor plant again in the last few years. Has been decleared as one of the best plants for purifing household air by NASA. Plants have long grey green mottled leaves. A well grown plant in a tall pot with white stones on the soil make a low maintenance and pretty looking plant. Another known benefit of this plant is that it releases oxygen at night, helping you to breathe earlier. Place one in your bedroom for a better night’s sleep. These evergreen plants can usually require both warm, cool climatic conditions and a little care to maintain.   • Snake Plants are some of the easiest plants to grow. The care that they require is no care at all.

  • Plants can tolerate water very well. In fact plants growing in plain water survive and thrive for years.
  • It's cutting can also grow in water even without soil.
  • Plants like to grow in bright light but also perform good in direct sunlight also.
  • Clean the leaves with wet cloth once in a week. Remove any damaged/diseased plant part & discard it away from planting area.

PLANT CARE  

LIGHT CONDITION Can grow in Indirect Bright light or Semi shade or Indoor or full sunlight also. 

WATERING SCHEDULE - Remember Over water can kill your Snake plant when it is in soil. Water when the top soil(2-3 inch) feels dry to touch. Moderate Watering(in every 3-4days)

SOIL TYPE - The soil should be well drained, fertile and rich in organic content.

TEMPERATURE - The average temperature should be 18-30 Degree Celsius.

FERTILIZER APPLICATION - Apply any organic fertilizer once in a month. Do not forget to water your plant immediately after application of fertilizer.

PLANT PROTECTION Remove dead, infected or damaged plant parts and discard them away from the plants. Generally it is not affected by any pest or disease, in case of any infections, you can use Neem oil spray for primary treatment.

 

INITIAL CARE FOR 10-15 DAYS JUST AFTER RECEIVING YOUR PLANT 

  1. Remove the Packaging Materials carefully.
  2. Press the soil in the pot & add additional soil(garden mix) if necessary.
  3. Maintain moisture in the pot, Do not over water it may kill your plant, so make sure that the soil should be dry between watering.
  4. Make sure that plants get enough morning direct bright light(2-3hrs) for 10-15 days & do not go for immediate transplanting (minimum 1 month)
  5. You can remain the plant in the same pot for 6-7 month, later you can transplant it in slightly bigger pot than the present.
  6. Just prune if any branch of the plant is get damaged in transits. New leaves will come definitely.

Indoor plants it doesn't mean that they don't requires sunlight. they also need 3-4 hours of indirect bright light. The best indirect bright light can be morning or evening sunlight. You can also place your plant near to brightest area of your location.

The soil mix required for most indoor plants are mix of peat moss, vermiculite, perlite, cocopeat, organic compost, sandyloam soil or garden soil. Remeber the soil should be well drained, fertile and rich in organic content.

Remember overwater can kill your plant. Water when the topsoil(2-3 inch) feels dry to touch. In general moderate watering(in every 3-4 days)

Chlorophytum comosum, Parlour palm, All Ferns(Green & Golden Boston Fern), Ponytail palm, Areca palm, Pepromia, Table palm. Raphis palm etc.

On average, an indoor plant will need repotting every 1-2 years to avoid it from becoming �pot bound� and to allow it to continue to grow and thrive. The best time to repot is during spring to give actively growing roots have enough time to grow into the fresh potting mix.

It is typically due to under watering, overwatering, or too much direct sunlight, try giving it some water and see if it perks up. Sometimes it's as easy as that. Most plants leaves will begin to wilt when they need watered.

It maybe due to when they're exposed to too much fertilizer or too many salts build up in the soil. Always follow the description of fertilizers before using it.
