Details steps of how to grow and maintain your plant

The Shikakai plant, scientifically known as Acacia concinna, is a small shrub native to Asia, particularly found in India, valued for its medicinal properties and use in hair care. Traditionally used in Ayurvedic medicine, Shikakai grows up to 1 to 2 meters in height, featuring feathery green leaves and fragrant flowers.

Shikakai is prized for its fruit pods, rich in natural saponins, which gently cleanse the scalp and hair without stripping away natural oils. Its vitamins and minerals nourish hair follicles, strengthen hair shafts, and promote growth, while its antimicrobial properties soothe and heal the scalp, reducing dandruff and itching.

Growing Tips:
  • Plant in well-drained, sandy loam soil with a pH of 6.0 to 8.0 in sunny locations with partial shade.
  • Ensure regular watering to keep soil consistently moist but not waterlogged.
  • Annual pruning removes dead branches, promotes airflow, and maintains shape.
  • Apply organic fertilizer during the growing season for healthy growth.
  • Protect young plants from frost with blankets or frost protection methods.
