Indian sandalwood botanically known as Santalum album is a small tropical tree. It is native to southern India and Southeast Asia. It is considered sacred in some religions, and some cultures place great significance on its fragrant and medicinal qualities. This plant is semi-parasitize type, which means they need support from other plants in order to grow, so plants other small plants like Tulasi, Citrus, Ficus sp. etc to be planted near its root.
- It is a small evergreen tree that grows in tropical countries.
- The wood of the tree is of different colors, depending on the age and the kind of tree.
- The fragrance is due to the essential oil in the heartwood.
- Of great economical importance in the Southern states of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
- The wood is used for incense, perfumery, and in making small furniture.
- This plant is the symbol for Aadra nakshatra.

- Growing tips:
- 1. The plant is parasitic in its early stages. That is why it is difficult to grow plants in a nursery. Plants germinate and grow around existing trees.
- 2. Flowering occurs in about 2 years and continues almost throughout the year along with the production of profuse fruits.
- 3. The trees grow in all types of climate except in areas susceptible to frost.
- 4. Prefers well-drained loam soil rich in humus.

PLANT CARE
LIGHT CONDITION - More than 6 hours of Direct Sunlight.
WATERING SCHEDULE - Water when the topsoil(2-3 inches) feels dry to touch.
SOIL TYPE - The soil should be well-drained, fertile & rich in organic content.
FERTILIZER APPLICATION - Initially up to 1 year apply any organic fertilizer once a month. After full establishment apply any organic fertilizer(2-3 times a year)
INITIAL CARE FOR 10-15 DAYS JUST AFTER RECEIVING YOUR PLANT
- Remove the Packaging Materials carefully.
- Press the soil in the pot & add additional soil(garden mix) if necessary.
- Maintain moisture in the pot, Do not overwater it may kill your plant, so make sure that the soil should be dry between watering.
- Provide support with stick/moss stick(vine plant) in order to make straight growth, for needed plant only.
- Make sure that plants get enough direct bright light for 10-15 days & do not go for immediate transplanting(minimum 1-2month)
- Just prune if any branch of the plant is get damaged in transit. It happens very rarely.

Outdoor plants are those plants which grow in direct sunlight, they can be avenue & flowering trees, Palms, Cactus & Succulents, & Ornamental plants also.
In general outdoor plants prefer to grow under direct sunlight, so minimum 5-6hours of direct sunlight is essential for these collections.
Two important things are full sunlight & proper space to grow them because some plants need large space to grow.
Yes, if you are planting too close to the wall, it can damage your wall. Make sure that it is planted 3-4 meter away from the wall, exceptions for Palms & ornamental plants.
