Alpinia Botanically known as Alpinia zurumbet from Zingiberaceae or Ginger family. Common name are Alpinia yellow variegated, yellow ginger, shell ginger, variegated ginger, butterfly ginger etc. This plant is a rhizomatous, evergreen tropical perennial that grows in upright clumps 8 to 10 ft tall in tropical climates. It bears funnel-formed flowers and flowers are waxy, funnel-shaped, and slightly fragrant when in bloom.
A must have in landscapes or Home Garden. The golden yellow streaks on deep green foliage are truly striking. Plants thrive well in sun as well as shade. They grow quite big (over two meters) when planted in the ground. Plants can be trimmed to keep shape. Grown more for the foliage than the flowers.

MAXIMUM HEIGHT - It can reach up to 1-2 meters in height and can spread 2-4 meters wide.

GROWING TIPS
- There are few plants easier to grow as Alpinia. Full sun is great with 2 to 3 hours indirect bright light will also be sufficient.
- One time planting is enough and later it will multiply and will become bushy.
- It can be plant as line plantation in Landscape as a bushy shrub, the distance between plant to plant should be 2ft.
- Sand in potting mix helps as the plants require good drainage. Regular water is required to keep plant fresh and healthy. Plant in large pots for getting big healthy leaves.
- When choosing a container, be sure to pick one that has at least one drainage hole in the bottom. This is key as the hole will allow excess water to drain out.
- As the plants grow, new alpinia will arise from the sides you can separate it and plant it in other pot in order to multiply your plant.

PLANT CARE
LIGHT CONDITION - Can grow in Indirect Bright light or Semi shade or Indoor(wherever natural bright light are available) and in Direct sunlight also.
WATERING SCHEDULE - Water when the top soil(2-3 inch) feels dry to touch. Moderate Watering Alternate days.
SOIL TYPE - The soil should be well drained, fertile and rich in organic content, sandy soil is most preferred.
TEMPERATURE - The average temperature should be 25-35 Degree Celsius.
FERTILIZER APPLICATION - Apply any organic fertilizer once in a month. Do not forget to water your plant immediately after application of fertilizer.
PLANT PROTECTION - Remove dead, infected or damaged plant parts and discard them away from the plants. Generally it is not affected by any pest or disease, in case of any infections, you can use Neem oil spray for primary treatment.
INITIAL CARE FOR 10-15 DAYS JUST AFTER RECEIVING YOUR PLANT
- Remove the Packaging Materials carefully.
- Press the soil in the pot & add additional soil(garden mix) if necessary.
- Maintain moisture in the pot, Do not over water it may kill your plant, so make sure that the soil should be dry between watering.
- Make sure that plants get enough morning direct bright light(2-3hrs) for 10-15 days & do not go for immediate transplanting (minimum 1 month)
- You can remain the plant in the same pot for 1-2 month, later you can transplant it in slightly bigger pot than the present or directly in the soil.
- Just prune if any branch of the plant is get damaged in transits. New leaves will come definitely.
