The Karakai plant, scientifically known as Terminalia chebula, is a deciduous tree native to the Indian subcontinent, celebrated for its multitude of health benefits. Growing up to 20-30 meters tall, it features oval-shaped leaves and small, greenish-yellow flowers.
The key component of the Karakai plant is its fruit, known as Haritaki or Terminalia chebula. Revered in Ayurvedic medicine, Karakai promotes digestive health, detoxification, rejuvenation, respiratory health, immune support, and mental clarity.
Growing Tips:
- Plant in well-drained, loamy soil with a pH of 6.0 to 7.5 in sunny locations with partial shade.
- Maintain regular watering to keep soil moist but not waterlogged.
- Prune annually to remove dead or diseased branches and maintain shape.
- Apply organic fertilizer during the growing season for healthy growth.
- Protect young plants from frost using blankets or frost protection methods.
