Thunbergia , is well known as a fast-growing, long-flowering, friendly creeper, an herbaceous perennial climbing plant species in the Acanthaceae family.
It is a general favourite as it is not fussy about soil, needs only moderate water, is mostly evergreen and covers ugly places beautifully. It is easy to care.
The medium green leaves are a little coarse and grow opposite one another. They can be either heart-shaped or a kind of lanced arrowhead shape.
The flowers look daisy-like at a distance, but they are actually tubular. The flowers have an almost pop art look to them, with a solid center surrounded by a ring of clear colored petals. This vine blooms flowers all summer but can continue all year in warmer areas. Flowers are most commonly found in orange, pale yellow or white, but new cultivars are being created with a wider color palette.
It is grown as an ornamental plant in gardens and frequent sight in hanging baskets.
