Soap Nut/Soap berry trees are a member of the maple family. They were particularly prominent in ancient India and are a highly-valued plant in Ayurvedic medicine. This is a very large tree that produces prodigious amounts of soaponifying nuts, which are used as a natural surfactant. It is also used as a shampoo to eradicate lice.
